This accredited course is designed for students learning English as an additional language to enhance their English language in order to prepare them to access a range of educational and vocational pathways with Orange International College and/or other training providers, including higher education. It will be delivered as ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) to Overseas/International participants who need to develop English language skills to participate in a further study context in straightforward interactions and to analyse and produce straightforward texts relevant to further study and research their options in employment or educational pathways.
On successful completion of this course the student would be awarded 22258VIC Certificate IV in EAL (Further Study), which is a nationally recognised training. The qualification has a mention of the number of weeks of ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) attended. Students who do not complete all units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of 22258VIC Certificate IV in EAL (Further Study), along with a mention of the number of weeks of ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) attended.
Further training pathways from this qualification include wide variety of educational pathways with OIC and other training providers including higher education.
All students must be aged 18 years or over (International Students) at the time of applying for admission
- There are no specific education requirements for this course
- The learner needs to have English proficiency level equivalent to ISLPR level 2+/3. It is demonstrated by 5/5.5 bands in IELTS or equivalent English language test
Entry for the course is determined by: Using pre-course English language assessment for Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing competencies within the Framework an assessment is made to determine applicant’s appropriate course placement as per their level of proficiency in the English language. Applicant’s learning and pathway building needs are also considered
There are no pre-requisite requirements for individual units of competency.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)
RPL is not available for this Accredited Course, as students are placed at an appropriate level after assessing their English proficiency levels. Appropriate Credit Transfer may be granted to eligible students against each unit of competency on evidence to successful completion of the same unit in an equivalent or higher nationally endorsed qualification. Students with Credit Transfers will finish the course in a shorter duration and are advised to consult appropriate authorities/bodies for applicable criteria if they are planning further study or stay in Australia
